the 70s was the decade of soul, but cant say the best decade for funk as from 1980 to 1985, groups like CHOCOLATE MILK and KLEEER and MTUME, made funk equally as interesting, diverse and danceable, to anything J Brown, PLAYERS, LAKESIDE, BARKAYS, CHILITES, TEMPTATIONS, ect, ever did. On top of those groups, in the early 80s, the 12 inch record saw independant, one off, records that were just as good as anything the 70s FUNK bands did, and i am not going to tell you how many FANTASTIC 12 INCH RECORDS CAME OUT. But back to soul, the 70s, walked the floor with SOUL music, u dont need me to tell you ABOUT THAT. L HUTSON, G C CAMERON, B WHITE, BARBARA MASON, although her best soul came out in the early 80s, as well. there are just to many to mention, so am going to stop there, suffice to say. 70s, is just a by word for SOUL.

Junie Morrison put his foot in this one! Nobody put down 1970's funk like the Ohio Players and Parliament Funkadelic. Junie wrote some of the Ohio Players earliest hits Pain, Pleasure and Ecstasy. He also contributed to some of P/Funk's hits like Not just knee deep, One Nation Under A Groove and the albums Motorbooty Affair and Gloryhallastoopid.Junie doesn't get his due for his contributions and not a lot of people know who he is.And those are real instruments and you can hear the heart and soul in the playing.

Always remember: Funk is the DNA of Hip Hop. And the best FUNK comes from O-H-I-O (Playas that is)...FUNK fo' yo' Mind (ONE TIME!!!!)
