Finally (thirty-eight years after the fact) decided to look up the female in that duet with Paul Anka (having my baby). Shocked to see she was a sista! I knew of her passing, so sad that she had a disease. What a beautiful woman! Thank you, sir, for your post about your family life together; I am sure that she is smiling down on you all right now. Now, I am older than she ever was, and will always be haunted by the lovely Odia Coates.

This message is to Shelby. I am so glad to know that you both had a family together. I loved Odia's voice with Paul Anka. The things I was going through when they released the song "Having My Baby" I wanted to know who this woman was singing with him. Well I got the chance to see her face and she resembled a woman I was crazy over in Florida during that year this song was released. I was only 19 at the time but Ms Oates was hell of a singer. May she RIP and may you all live happily.

Love this album. I happened to do a search for her and was pleasantly surprised to find it here. I would like to say this lady had more impact on the woman I became than any member of my family. I had the honor of having her in my life as a personal friend. She was more of a big sister to me than my three older sisters combined. I wish I had had the chance to tell her that. Odia Coates -Givens was a class act and I am blessed to have known her.

I had the brief pleasure of meeting Odia while on tour with Paul back in 1975, and I got her autograph. I only found out about her passing in '91 about a year or so ago. For me, it's so sad, as I think she never got the recognition she deserved as a solo artist. God bless her family, and thanks for posting this song.

Thanks so much for posting. I'm thrilled to hear it again. I have the 45, but it's all scratching. I'm hoping who ever owns the master of this track will put it up on iTunes. Cheers!
