This is a song from my old band, Obliteration, from the "Dying Age" demo. This song is entitled, "Inflicted." Obliteration was born in 1997 and was a christian death metal band from Oklahoma City, OK. The full 4-song demo was featured on a compilation and distributed by Cross Rhythms/Blastbeats Music. I was the original vocalist of the band as featured on the Dying Age demo. Once I left the band, the name of the band was changed to Death List and lead guitarist, Kevin Tubby, took over on vocal duties in addition to lead guitar. As Death List, the band went on to record a full length album called "Severed." A couple months after the recording of the new album, I rejoined the band. Unfortunately, the band broke up in January 1999.

I remember this demo, Embodyment's "Embrace the Eternal", "Ascension" by Groms & Living Sacrifice's "Inhabit" as my intro to brutal "Christian" metal, I didn't believe my Christian friends when they told me that there were Christian bands writing music as brutal as anything else happening at the time (obviously not lyric-wise). Also can't forget Vaakevandring, a pity they only released that one EP.

BTW I'm not even a religious person, but I respect the talent and brutality all the bands on that sampler had... Good Death Metal is good Death Metal no matter how you slice it... I too, found my way here looking for Disencumbrance. Anyone remember Crimson Thorn? I use to jam those dudes around the same time I had this sampler. They were fuckin brutal.

Dude. I use to have the "Chords Of The Grave" sampler CD back in the day. It was so damn brutal. This is how Christian Death Metal should be. All these Christian Metal bands now play crappy Metalcore and are a bunch scene kids, which is generally frowned upon, and a joke anyway. If you want to spread the word and be taken serious, you need to jump right in and get brutal with it. Christian bands have to deal with enough criticism as it is. No need to compound it by playing crappy scene music.
