This song just reminds me how crucial label focus is on an artist.. Obie Trice is a solid MC... I like him... He's not spectacular of course but he's got skills.... But when Scope, Dre, Em, etc promote and work hard his album it elevated him from solid to multi platinum lol.... Right place right time..... But 2nd Rounds on Me was when G-Unit was way more the focus and lacked the production and promotion and fell short of repeating the success of Cheers... He wasn't a worse artist on it.... He just didn't make the album along side those guys..... In those days, Dre and Em were so in their creative zone and that label had an appeal that they could make any good rapper platinum... But still.... I've always liked Obie cuz he's so forgotten at this point and Cheers is literally a forgotten platinum album and he was good on it....... I always said about Obie.... He made his big song debut as the first guest on the biggest rap album in the world, and imo his verse is more memorable (raunchy but so what lol).... Even if you disagree, he held his own big time and that's not easy with Em... Most can't go toe to toe with him on a collab... He doesn't care if you're his artist.... He'll get competitive with D12 all the time and 50 Cent on "patiently waiting" so I don't wanna hear that argument.... Obie deserves at least a little more acknowledgment but unfortunately his time has passed to ever be truly relevant...
