As one of the first UK teenage Nirvana fans really affected by the title 'I hate myself and want to die', whilst a bit confused smoking dope & dropping acid at such a young age, Oasis where a real breath of fresh air. If only I could have heard Noels opinion on this way back then it would have snapped me right out of that void of self pity and existential despair. Fucking great times though the early 90's wouldn't change those days for the world.

That whole "I hate myself & want to die" thing was actually supposed to be a joke. Kurt had said he wanted to call the album that as a joke bcuz of the media portrayal of himself as a "depressed death rocker". Ppl want to say its true only bcuz of the circumstances of his death, which isn't true either. He was murdered & he was known to have a sense of humor by those closest to him. It's always the media portrayal of things that colors what ppl perceive. Why else would most ppl believe that a persons worth is defined by their wealth? Bcuz they believe what they're told, as the media portrayal of wealth is being someone & those who are poor are nobodies. It should be about individual merit, what a person accomplishes on their own, not how much money they have. Of course, everything about perspective & society is decidedly skewed & bass ackwards. What would a society made up of free thinking honorable individuals look like? We'll never know at this point, not when capitalism is the name of the game & it's every one for themselves! Someday the truth will come out, but it'll likely be when it's too late to make a difference. There's nothing that can be done about media portrayal of things that have already happened, but for future reference of things to come, it's obvious that there's a one sidedness to media that is basically just propaganda, pushing an agenda & feeding it to the gullible masses who believe everything fed to them bcuz, "it's on TV, so it must be true! Who would lie on TV?" Money & wealth is the number one evil for what it represents to ppl. Pursuit of wealth is for fools. It's designed to keep ppl slaving away, believing that if they have the newest tech device or car, their lives will finally be complete & they'll be considered somebody. At least until the next one comes out a few weeks later, then it happens all over again. Materialism is too time consuming. There's a lot of books that could be read rather than chasing things that'll just lose their novelty soon after.

What Liam and Noel say is true - everyone knew Kurt Cobain was a weak smack head who couldn't deal with his mental illness and fucking cut himself. Britain is a lot more optimistic than America, and that is why we took to Oasis who had a live-for-today attitude. And yet there seem to be a lot of sad acts on this video crying because Nirvana just doesn't resonate with Britain. Shame we don't like nutcases eh?

The Nirvana tune was written in jest. Hard to prove after Cobain's suicide, however. Liam, a great lead singer in his own right, ought to shut the fuck up about Cobain. Couldn't hold a fucking candle to him in my eyes.
