"Making the Band" was an ABC/MTV reality television series created by Lou Pearlman, the man responsible for the formation of the Backstreet Boys and the early management of *NSYNC. It started on March 25, 2000 on ABC. Pearlman embarked on a nationwide talent search, cutting auditions in eight cities down to 25 young men, and eventually eight finalists. These eight young men would, as the premise for a new ABC reality show, compete for five spots in Pearlman's newest boy band creation named "O-Town", to be signed to his record label, Transcontinental Records. The five guys who became O-Town were: Ashley Parker Angel, Jacob Underwood, Dan Miller, Erik-Michael Estrada and Trevor Penick.

There was a reason why Ikaika left the group and his big brother never left his side, clearly a reason linked with Lou Pearlman that would never have been aired anyway. Lou was nasty.9 years ago

smarted one out of the group tbh. What they should have done is got a lawyer to explain the contracts they were getting into, come together as a group and demand better conditions. Years later they realized they were making no money had less than ideal working conditions and wanted out. Ikaika's brother may have sounded funny, but he sure was right. 9 years ago

the anonymous kid is now a grown man but he was auditioning for the BackStreet boys and got cut after he refused to sleep with Lou. He was in court to testify that Lou WAS propositioning boys to sleep with him or no "deal" this is why I know for a fact that Lou slept with all the members of Nsync too.11 years ago

It wasn't a smart move it was a move that LOOKED SMART. Ikaika left the group because it is now known that Lou Perlman slept with every boy band member he's ever created. Ikaika didn't want to have sex with Lou. Plain and simple. he left so that he didn't have to sleep with Lou. One anonymous member that testified against Perlman in court stated that Perlman opened his bathrobe and told him: "this is how you get into one of my bands". So there ya go.12 years ago
