As a native English speaker, it pains me to say that the Dutch version is so much better, but it is. THe Dutch lyrics are very bitter, actually, and the English ones completely change the emotions, and make them more bloodless and neutral, quite to their detriment, in my opinion. Oh well, it's a great song anyway, and I'm glad to see it getting some revived recognition...

The clock analogy is very good. She appears to be dancing to mimic a clock mechanism and the song ends with a classic "times up" note.

I love this son so much, such an all-time favorite of mine =) I remember hearing this for the first time in 2003 when i became a eurovision fan at the age of 12, I listened to this song a lot back then, during that spring and summer, and it always makes me feel nice and positive. this song always reminds me of those happy, sunny spring days, when I'm looking forward to the next, new eurovision song contest =)

@rklrkl64 The tikke tak bim bom actually makes sense, sort of. I never realised that untill now. The song is about how she waits for her love. Tikketak is the sound we make when we're imitating a clock (you'll probably say 'tic-toc'). Bim-bom is the sound a church bell makes. So the whole song is actually pretty sad, because she sing about a summerlove who never shows up ("De tijd was om" means "The time is up").
