Why is this SO much better than what's on the album? And it's only a demo???? Say what you want about the man, but Pete's a genius when it comes to this kind of stuff.

agreed mr. Boerger! PT can really make with the demos, huh? World's greatest understatement.

How he sang "there ain't no where out" at 4:43 was just beautiful.

Completely funny ~ listening to different versions of this, actually in the roundabout process of looking for this particular one - and recognized your name; I subscribe to your 'channel'. First time that has ever happened. What are the odds. : ) Thanks

love this song, and I do prefer Pete's demo. He made this demo using 1970s home audio equipment....tape recorders bouncing tracks kids. I doubt I could get lead vocal production as thick and rich and this even in my studio today. 256 tracks don't mean crap when the song is crap. it's just 256 tracks of crap.

I kind of prefer this version to the one he did with The Who.

CHEEEEEEZUS ! If any of the demos I ever had to listen to could have sounded like this one. The more I listen to it, the more I'm amazed by the performance of Andrew Bailey.

it just goes to show that townsend knew so much about the human condition and this so called society that we live in ,it makes people leave comments like "i didnt know pete knew so much about me " and eddie vedder saying "i should have been sending pete fathers day cards ".its cos he knew that the system has us believeing we are individual but we all follow the path our rulers lay for us ,pete warned us for years about this ,and people still dont get it ..we pissed and shat in our own garden

Pete's not playing drums on this one. In the liner notes of the Scoop 3 album, it says: "Recorded in 1975 by Dick Hayes at my Goring studio (the big one in the barn where I mixed Quadrophenia). Phil Chen played bass and brought his friends the brothers Andrew (drums) and Phillip Bailey (keyboards) along. They were a joy to play with."
