Lifted from the complex digital collage of their highly-acclaimed sophomore release 'On Floating Bodies', 'No Dream' is the third single from duo Jamie Scott and Anneke Kampman, collectively known as Conquering Animal Sound.
Embellished with a myriad of hand-crafted sounds layered over warped bass and an arrhythmic digital heartbeat, 'No Dream' exposes us fully to the disorientating invention of Scott and Kampman's creative processes. If the album's previous singles 'The Future Does Not Require' and 'Warn Me' were pop celebrations of synthesis, then 'No Dream' darkly presages the potential hazards of amalgamation, with Kampman forewarning the decline of linguistics with ear-widening, rhetorical trills of "How committed/ Are you to your language? / If you apply discourse/ You watch the feather drop/ Everything falls".
Drawing from science and semantics with enviable fluidity, 'No Dream' reaffirms Conquering Animal Sound's love for sonic experimentation and pop melodicism; expertly commanding the space between the absolutely fearless and the intensely methodical.
