This was recorded with shitty equipment which is why Kurt's voice sounds a bit different. The mic must have been close to the guitar since it gets distorted. That also contributes to Kurt's voice sound tinier. Since it's a demo he might not have sung all the way through - less hoarseness. Source: my own experience recording sketches of songs.9 years ago
