Nils Lofgren's career has seen him achieve great success as a solo artist whilst also establishing himself as a guitarist for both Neil Young in Crazy Horse and Bruce Springsteen in the E Street Band. These three live performances from Germany were all filmed for the famous Rockpalast TV series and see Lofgren at differing points in his career. In 1976 he had released his debut solo album to considerable critical acclaim and was beginning to lay the foundations of his reputation. By 1979 he was well established as a solo artist and influential guitar player. For the third show in 1991, Lofgren had already done a substantial stint in the E Street Band and had just begun to return as a solo performer with his album "Silver Lining". All three are great performances and catch the excitement and showmanship of one of America's finest guitar players live in concert.

It's not widely known that Nils was a contemporary of Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanan all of which lived within 25 miles of each other during the early 70's. I personally saw Nils play on the side of Lee High School once in the presence of maybe 40 people with his band Grin circa '72 and also at the, get this, Alexandria Roller Rink. The triumvirate of those three guys was a geographical abnormality of monumental impact for the musically attuned youth of the region. They shared a guitar style apparently indicative to the time and place that hasn't been replicated since anywhere to my knowledge. I got to see them all and am eternally grateful.

This video may be off his 'Cry Tough" DVD. However the song was on his 1st "self titled" solo LP released in 1975. I think the copyright police folks keep that studio version from being uploaded? I know a lot of great music is denied on here by that route. I think YouTube exposure would help this old stuff more than hurt in regards to making any money off it. I don't think they the hell know??

KR wasn't able for this level of genius himself, so no real surprise he didn't like/understand it. Unfortunately the majority of music buying people only get as far as liking the mediocre, which is why we have the stones and beatle crap hailed as top music and true genius like this and many others is not seen by the majority because the 'playing' stations only play what mindless moronic masses are fed by the media producers who only feed you what they think they can make most money out of.
