Now imagine all the mentioned birds are actually relationships that didn't work out, and each of them left a mark but was left behind. Then try not to get emotional at the dove.

You know what? I will definitely give the Annette albums some serious credit here. Her voice goes SO much better with Marco's. They sound amazing together! With Tarja and Floor, there's just to much of a gap between them, with the best example being the Phantom of the Opera cover. Marco has a great voice, but it's to gruff and heavy and doesn't go well with the pure opera of Floorja. He works as a good counterpoint to those two, but you can only do that so much. Here though? They harmonize almost perfectly.

As much as I love Tarja and recognize Floor's ability, none of them could've pulled this off. This song is Anette's, she has the sweetness, the heart and the storytelling voice.

Can we just take some time to appreciate what we enjoy most about songs like this that have so many upsides you can write a book about it......Instead of making pointless talk about who is singing it.

This came up on my YouTube feed and I suddenly remembered that the first time I had heard it was actually on Thanksgiving Day of 2011...November 24. So I guess for me, the song is six years old today.

This makes me think of Death from the Darksiders games in way. The song lyrics suggest a bitterness to the person, and Death while sarcastic can be bitter at times and has shown occasional self loathing and immense guilt for things he's done in his life. The crow makes me think of the Crowfather who we actually have a boss fight with in the second Darksiders game where we play as Death. His personality is the grumpy old hermit that despises anyone visiting his home. I could see the Crowfather having a sense of pride given how much power the guy has and the secrets he gives. Crows while fairly wise, tend to tell things you don't want to hear, but need to. They are symbols of death for that very reason. The owl could be seen as anyone in the series that Death sees as wiser, and also older than himself. Death is quoted as saying, "Wisdom is a great gift....", but he's also known to be a wise person himself. However Death's wisdom seems to be a more bitter kind. He's wise but he doesn't always share what he knows, often feeling it's best no one knew anything of his past that could teach anyone in the future. Death focuses so much on the negative version of his own wisdom, that while he may ask for the wisdom of others, he may not actually take it to heart entirely. After all in Darksiders 2, when talking with the Makers' race characters, you often can ask them the same question and get a different version of the same answer. The wisdom portrayed by characters like this, while it is good for learning, Death may feel he doesn't need to learn any sort of lessons. He strikes me as the kind of person with the personality he has.As for the dove, it represents Death's family. His three siblings, (In Darksiders the names of two horsemen were changed, so try not to get angry when I say them. Anything that could be said, has already been stated about the name thing.) Strife, Fury, and War.While Death feels at ease with his siblings around, and may feel loved by his family from time to time, he may feel he doesn't need it because he doesn't deserve it. He may look at it as a feeling he should've indulge in because anything could happen. He's too focused on keeping them alive and together that he may not allow himself to get completely attached. Or he may already be that attached to them and is just afraid to show it off.The swan is tricky, as nothing suggests Death having a lover at any point. But the lore is kind enough to let us know that not even his siblings know everything about him. Death hides a lot of secrets about his past, so what if he had someone he cared about enough to love, but he denied himself that person. He wanted them, but felt he didn't deserve them and thus either left them thinking they'd be better off without him, or maybe he didn't tell the person he cared that much to begin with because he wasn't sure that he should. The lyrics "Don't give me love" and "Don't give me faith" suggest a bitter attitude towards both, but perhaps they also hint at not deserving at least one, if not both of them. Asking for innocence and truth instead, could be a desire to go back to beginning and start over, as well as simply wanting a honest answer this moral dilemma and what should be done. He may already know the answer himself, but he doesn't think it's the right one. When in truth, it all depends on what he wants and feels is right. He doesn't need someone to tell him what to feel or what he needs. He needs the people around him to maybe guide him, but they can't just give him an answer, as they don't truly understand what he's going through. Only he knows what he feels, and only he has the power to make the decision in the end.I know this is heavily approaching head canon territory due to all the speculation, but I like thinking about the possibility of it all. I don't mind if anyone disagrees with me. Feel free to in fact.
