this song and the video really got me. my interpretation is that he has a drinking problem. he drowns himself in his sorrows and alcohol because he hates the way his life is going. his friends are no help and only contribute to the problem by messing with him, almost encouraging him to drink. he spits in the mirror because he hates himself. he's drunk in the bathtub. there's a beer bottle behind him. when he's throwing water into his face and hair he pauses and puts his hands over the back of his head/neck. he feels defeated. i have no idea what it's like to have a drinking or substance abuse problem. i only know that it must be extremely hard if you can still risk hurting everyone that cares about you and ruining relationships because of it. i wish he could stop. i wish he would never pick up another bottle. i wish that things were just meant to work out between us. if i was really the right one for him then he'd choose me over the beer. he'd chose to better himself over playing with his life. if i was the one for him then he'd know he wasn't alone and that he doesn't have to do it alone. he just doesn't want me. not badly enough anyway. he's never gonna put me first.
