Nice song with powerful moments. The Vogues were originally a doo wop group called The Val Aires. They're from Pittsburgh, Pa.

when you here the song , the back ground music ,... you can here the past cry out as if why did you leave me/us back here ? time left us back here so the future could come but there is no future as if it keeps going the way it is in the present time line there will be no future . i once heard this term,.... WE ALL STRUGGLE TO CONTROL OUR DESTINY , WOULD EVEN WHEN WE THINK WE HAVE SUCEEDED , FATE MAY AND WILL HAVE THE FINAL WORD OR IS IT THAT TIME MANDATES THE FINAL OUTCOME ?

Even though I was in third grade when this song first came out, I didn't hear it on the radio until 1986; twenty years later.

This song is so sad that it makes me cry. In fact, I'm crying now as I type this in. The lyrics and the story behind it are just too sad.

Harmony was the great thing about music from the fiftys and sixtys.

I really like this record and others by The Vogues but honestly Jody Miller's earlier version was better.

Ab-so-lute-ly. Kinda liked this older label design better than the later "hourglass" version

I had to look up this song today after I heard it on an oldies station here in buffalo, I really had to listen to the words to know what to look for. Although I was only 4 when this was out I do recall hearing it on the radio a few year's after, then never hearing it again. Finally I found it here, thank you!

Fitting, since "You're The One" was written and originally recorded by...Petula Clark.

@PJDooWop ALthough they lacked the body of work of the more important vocal groups of the Sixtes, Five 0'Clock World and Magic Town were songs as good as any from the era, including by the Beatles and Stones.

I was surprised to find this late-mid Sixties styled pop song at your channel. The sould and lyrics impress as somewhat a follow-up to five o'clock world and it at least falls uder its shadow. Nevertheless, I have always loved this song.
