I saw David Johansen open up for Aerosmith in the last week of 1984. He was actually wearing the Marilyn Monroe jacket he wears in this video. I remember getting the tickets cheap for these washed up acts. Tyler & Perry had just reformed the original band and didn't have an album out and at the time all I new David from was an Animals medley he did that got a lot of MTV play. Within a year Aerosmith was back on top with a new album and I figured out that the Buster Poindexter guy on the tonight show was the same guy who referred to the audience at the New Haven coliseum as "you little bastards" because just a handful of people actually stood up and acknowledged he was playing!
