Seen Thunders on a few occasions and can still not see what made him so good(and he is). Pure charisma. The guy stands there, hasn't played a note yet and he is as present as you can ever be. Madness but true!

Great video! But Studio 54 was on 54th st, not skidrow. My roomate did the lights there, I went there a few times to see the "man in the moon".. CBGB was on Bowery. 82 Club was a transvestite club on E 4th and 1st or thereabouts. My mom and friends used to go there. Club 57 was open weekends in a church basement on St. Mark's Place. Was a showcase for Anne Magnuson and her band Pulsallama.Thunders had a birthday party there. Fun times, too many corpses though.....

Studio 54 NYC (skid row area), then CBGB, Studio 54 became a high roll coke club, I am just sharing, but my father worked there in 1977 and 1980.

Well, as "late" as it was for both of us, it wasn't about 82 or 51. It was about who was right. I have to admit NYD were more right than us.

Don't take it as any outtake. New York Dolls by then (studio 82) or 51, were on an outtake just as we were.

I remember every Friday, we used to have fights over what each of us thinks. May you correct me, and tell me why I was a bit over the top then?

While NYD had club 82 to perform at, we had club 51. I know perfectly well what it was like! Club 82 was just across the street from CBGB's just as club 51 was. The same basement club we all had used. In other words, the same exact club.

Once and for all. My name is Ian, and I was one of Johny Thunder's "better" friends. Even though not quite one like he was with Phyllis Stein ,but he had never had a better friend than me, in a person like me waiting for him to somehow become (at least partially) one of us. Even overcoming Jerry Nolan and David.

Except, people like me. Who was perfectly educated in classical music, and took on all of the 'digs" and scams that one could ever absorb.

Potential lost wouldn't be so horrible, had you known what JT went through. He was truly just a shadow of his earlier years, when he was just barely making it from day to day. JT was one of those of us, who gave it his all early on, and let his wick go dry on his own volition. With no regrets!
