They have aged well. The show sucked but they are talented guys. Should have been given a new group name.

I am a original Monkees fan and will be totally honest after putting down The New Monkees when it happened. The TV show was just terrible. I still have the CD and for 80's pop, it's not a bad CD. Like many have said, The music failed to sell because of 2 reasons: people didn't want a "New" Monkees when the original Monkees were irreplaceable.Second, the terrible show. The idea of getting 4 guys together for something "like" The Monkees but not call it "New" anything, may have worked. It was doomed from the start. I think that it's too bad because first off, Marty was a really talented guy! They all had talent and individuality but with the show's concept and name, it was doomed. Larry had that teen sensation voice and talent. Again, being honest, I found Dino funny but annoyingly somehow. Jared seemed the most out of place. Why someone didn't take on Marty and Larry and give them individual fame is beyond me. In this clip alone, Marty is hilarious and is very entertaining. Being a loyal original Monkees fan, at the time, I despised the NM and didn't give them credit in away from the god-awful show they were forced into. It was way too children "ADHD" oriented and they should have aimed more towards teens. Why Marty didn't leap into his own career with his talent baffles me.

I think it'd be totally awesome if y'all made a comeback! Even if it's just for one live performance, I think y'all would kick ass again! :)

Hey, I was there. Mercifully, I wasn't on camera.

Seriously - you need to check out their album. It's fantastic. No 'old Monkees' music in sight.

New Monkees did record their own music. This was just a fun gathering where they played a song that the Monkees sang. You should check out some of the other videos as well.

I don't even remember the New Monkees. When Peter, Davy, Mickey, and Mike left the scene, I figured that was it. I left the scene, too. I don't even know that the NM's ever made or sold any records. I just thought I'd check them out to see if I was missing anything good. From this... I'd say not. If they sang or recorded anything different from the "originals", that would be more interesting than this.

I think these guys are amazing. I was so pissed when they got canceled. It was a fun and creative show. Kids could use one like it today. I love that it never died with them. Keep rockin!

1987 I think - memory is not so good. I watched from afar as Dino approached Micky at the autograph table when Micky was at the autorama in Detroit. Dino and friend spent the evening telling stories to 5 women after that. I always adored him.

@starpurple When did you see Dino meet Micky?

I loved the New Monkees. I loved the "old" Monkees. With David's passing it reminds me of the old times when there were old Monkees and New Monkees and the world was a happy place. I watched Dino Kovas meet Micky and what a wonderful thing that was.

I guess the songs the original Monkees sang (Peter, Davy, Micky and Mike) are not solely theirs, but to me the Monkees will always be only Peter Tork, Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz and Mike Nesmith. And all the songs they ever sang will be theirs alone.... For me, there are no New Monkees and there never will be... ever again.
