Love both Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson. Graham Parker's Squeezing Out Sparks lp is also awesome.

Remember that this video was done prior to the advent of UNIX based SGI boxes... I loved Trust, Imperial Bedroom and that time period in his career!!!

I agree with Jimmy 11111- EC & the Attractions are an outstanding band. Clever lyrics, great musicianship... they had it all. However, other bands of the same era in my mind are equally as great, such as The Jam and Stiff Little Fingers. I guess it's all what the music has to say to you. I've been fortunate enough to see EC five or more times, and he never disappoints. I like that he stays true to what he likes, and he sings and plays with passion.

So I've been wondering for a couple of decades now, what is an Empire Morgan Spoon?

I would pretty much rather put hy ear up against the toilet and flush rather then listen to Steve Perry sing anything.

There are lots of people who claim Bob Dylan couldn't sing. (One of the all-time greats!) Same for Neil Young! If Elvis Costello, and those guys, sang like say Steve Perry... well I wouldn't listen to them any more than I listen to Journey! Not to mention Costello could play, produce, arrange and all that better than most. And writing? Not just better than most, better than (almost) ALL.

Elvis Costello simply the BEST songwriter ever to come from Englad. he has intelligence and the way to tell a story every other writer would sell there soul for.So he didn't have the chart sucess other's had he is an artist( not some stupid pop star). In another 100 years when the others are forgotten Elvis's songs will still be listened to and jaws will be hitting the floor.

He went reggae before that song. Try 'Watching the Detectives' from the first album.

EC was on a serious roll this time of his life. The videos were pretty stinky though. Here for the tunes while I work though so thank you! Trust was one of my favorites.
