From the In Memory EP

Lyrics:

Silent Hedges:

"Following the silent hedges

Needing some other kind of madness

Looking into purple eyes

Sadness at the corners

Works of art with a minimum of steel

Pure sensation

The beautiful down grade

Going to hell again

Going to hell again

Self confidence leaks

From a thousand wounds

Faults of civilization

Burning the private paradise of dreams

Minus hands of the electric clock

Clock x3

What happens when the intoxication of success has evaporated?

Pure sensation

The beautiful down grade

Going to hell again

Going to hell again

Again"

Double Dare:

"I dare you, to be real

To touch a flickering flame

The pangs of dark delight

Don't cower in night fright

Don't back away just yet

From destinations set

I dare you to be proud

To dare to shout aloud

For convictions that you feel

Like sound from bells to peal

I dare you to speak of your despise

For bureaucracy, hypocracy- all liars

I dare

I dare

I dare- you- you "

Can't hear anything "cheesy", it's a great cover.

I love and live metal but I agree with this, the common mistake thing, at least. I like the cheesy "epicness" of this cover, but I can DEFINITELY see how others would see it as forced and too cheesy to enjoy personally.

You get it! I like both! And a cover is a tribute made in the spirit of the band that is playing it! Its not a contest.

@twistoffate350 what you call monotonous and bland, I call balanced and atmospheric. When, you say it has more emotion and depth, to me it just sounds like they're trying too hard to make it sound like that. It's a mistake metal bands tend to make, they think a song has to have this sort of glorious, emotive, fast tone to be good, but I think that's somewhat a lack of sensibility and experimentation. But that's just the metal style, some like it, some don't. It's just a matter of taste.

Go Fuck Yourself

Space and Meaning. You're correct, but there are those who would also argue that this song, and the original have the intent of making the listener feel a 'falling-inwards' sensation'. If anything, Nevermore have simply broadened and amplified this affect. Then again, most of the kids here would never have ever checked in on it if they weren't so cool, smoking their cigarettes, trying to be kids off of South Park. Ah, wait, have I mentioned how incredibly gifted Jeff Loomis is? S C A R Y

Go Fuck Yourself

A perfect performance. I only wish it had been recorded appropriately. But, given the equipment involved, it's utterly legendary. I dare you....to try this at home and arrive at such a conclusion.

I only like the work of the singer. This is a metal version. That's all. Bauhaus makes minimalistic music, everything has its space and meaning.

I don't understand why everyone hates when Warrel touches a goth song. He ALWAYS puts more emotion into his singing and the music is ALWAYS more in depth and interesting. It tells more of a story when the music itself isn't so monotonous and bland. And to say it's a "distorted mess" is ass backwards. The bass distortion of the original songs is far more obnoxious and cheap sounding.

So much better than the origanal... the origanal is weak.

how dare a band like this even touch bauhaus. Bauhaus are legends and untouchable no one should even attempt.

@EinEdward Muy buena respuesta amigo, los cover's los tienes que hacer tuyos, a tu estilo, hacer tuya la canción, no ser una copia fiel de la original!

I love Bauhaus, and I LOVE Nevermore. It's clear where Warrel got some of his influences. Therefore I fucking love this song, ESPECIALLY the Silent Hedges bit.

If you're going to make the cover sound like the original, why would you bother?
