Reduced to? How is it a bad thing to play on a news show? If they're in the town, why wouldn't they do it? It gets them much more recognition, if only for the one town. You obviously don't know how marketing works. You know how much this cost the band to do? Nothing. They have instruments. They have microphones. The station has recording equipment and an audio system. You know how much recognition this got them? More than they had before. Exposure to new audiences is not bad at all.
