@MOONST0MP you're right, in 2002, Stan Campbell was committed indefinately. He had a history of grabbing women in coventry and had been known to have been sleeping rough as well. Even people who knew him said "he did not recognise me" I just looked at what they are all doing now. Its really sad and I'm shocked because his voice was awesome, and look how he lost his own mental health and freedom!

@speaialaka11 Stan Campbell, had one self titled incredibly smooth jazz/soul album then released by his label WEA after lackluster promotion and moderate sales....

Phenomenal song!!!!! This song never becomes ultra famous and leads the international call for an end to apartheid without the compelling resonance of Stan Campbell. Glad to hear that he is out and still alive. Too many black princes fall by the wayside in babylon. would wish i could have seen them in concert in england back in the day. must have been somethin'....

This song is beautiful. Stan Campbells voice mixed with Dammers producation was a resonating call to arms against apartheid and at the same time a great song for dancing (as you can see)...thanks...

@rektonrk: Jerry Dammers, The Specials, and The Specials AKA allready get mad respect here in South Africa! There's a booming ska scene, and everyone acknowledges that he is one of the true purveyors of great ska music. I for one think he should be knighted!

The song brought the plight of Mandela to so many people who had not heard of him before. The Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium in 1988 was seen by over one billion people and this song was the finale. 25 years after it was written it still sounds great. Huge respect to Englishman Jerry Dammers who wrote it.
