That's a good point. A lot of guitars are made with a focus on strumming with narrow necks. However, barre chords would be a lot easier on a tenor or half the time you wouldn't even need to cover more than one string.

Is it actually possible to "dislike" such genuine talent and brilliantly driven creativity leaking out all the edges on a little tenor guitar for all to take in and enjoy? Seriously? Feh!

That's fine. I was just saying tenor guitar has a hipster aura around it. There's 6 string guitars made for childern. Actually the short scale guitars are diffucult for a some with big size hands to play. Neko is new to the instrument. She prefers tenors. Some tenor guitars have an equal size neck to a six string. It's realtive, but it's cool you keep up on Neko.

I've read many interviews where she said that the reason she plays tenor is that her hands are tiny and don't fit a 6-string well. I know quite a bit about her story. If you don't believe me then google 'neko case fretboard journal', go to the Four on the Floor interview. Scan down to the 4th paragraph and she says her hands were too tiny to play a 6-string properly. It's a well-known story that she's repeated in many interviews over the years.

She's just xtra cool that's whay she plays a tenor guitar. She'd never say that. The neck size is relative really. Some six strings are very small. Tenor guitars cut through the mix really well. They are kinda of a holdout instrument from when guitar was for gypsies and high brow music and tenor banjo was king. They made tenor guitars from that pattern. Always wanted a tenor guitar. They are hard to find. I may have to build my own but I have to fix the ones I already have.

Whoops. Sorry. I should have read a bit more before commenting. BTW the reason she uses a tenor guitar is that, according to Neko, her hands are too small for the wider necks of a 6-string - possibly that was already stated here already.

My comment is only revelant with the original comment that I replied to. I don't know Neko at all. I like her style of music. She's got a tenor guitar.

After following Neko Case on Twitter for the last 6 months I would say that you'd get nowhere with that line.

Taking a break from the usual show tunes and sometimes bad 90's rap, it's the kick ass Neko Case. She sings songs that remind me of my grandmother and the old songs she would sing during family gatherings when I was growing up. Deep Red Bells is one of Neko's songs in particular that I love and never get tired of hearing.

@lbari95 then again, you can't always be there, and neko case isn't always playing, so that is when YouTube comes in handy.

The steel guitarist is chill, he was awesome at Bumbershoot 2 years ago. Actually hadn't heard of Neko Case until I saw her open the main stage. Bought her two latest albums as soon as I was home lol.
