Neil Young performs a cover of Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain" at the Farm Aid concert in Saratoga Springs, NY on September 21, 2013. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

I knew that Bob Dylan sang this song (the first version I heard) and I knew from the Self Portrait liner notes that Gordon Lightfoot wrote it. I also heard the Ian and Sylvia version later. But I did not know until this morning that Neil Young and Peter, Paul, and Mary also sang it. Apparently, if you're Canadian or your manager has a secretary, Mary Martin, from Canada, you sing this song.9 years ago
