compare this class to the junk and shite in the (so called) charts today, and think yourselves lucky that you grew up in the 70's when people had talent and could actually write songs and play them

Elton John said the Bonzo Dog Band was a big influence on him. Well, how bout that?

it nice to hear a song that doesnt have a second meaning something that you can just listen to and not have to figure it out. Its relaxing somewhat

Funny, but I can hear almost as much "Brooklyn Owes the Charmer" in this as "Border Song". Not that Innes was afraid to wrestle two genres at once.

England's finest and certainly most underrated singer/songwriter. I can't remember Neil doing a bad song.

It's a great song because on the surface it looks like an absurdist tossoff, but it's really a great moral lesson. I thought about it a bit. Growing up in the West, we were always taught not to "take the Lord's name in vain." This song beautifully ups the ante, and adds value: It points out that all cursing of one's circumstances is based on a faulty premise--that the universe is at fault when you're unhappy--and reflects one's own personal issues. And it does all this in a funny little song!

if you saw Elton in Vegas lately, the red piano schtick, then you fully understand and appreciate what Neil is saying with this parody. the red piano show is a complete and utter disaster. and i'm an Elton John fan :)
