Wow is the word alright. Hard to believe now, but "Nowhere Man" was the first Beatles single following their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show not to reach #1 on the U.S. charts. Just a little Beatles fatigue I guess. Neil Finn proves here what a gorgeous song it is.

wow, this cover still amazes me. i actually learned the song on the guitar after hearing Neil's cover, even after listening to The Beatles song for YEARS prior. i now play it with pride, but of course not nearly as good as either of them! LOL

@SuperRondalee AGREED!!! :-) they are good as backup singers, but Neil is leading and should have been shown more... god, he is so handsome!

@wclaurence i see no reason why Beatles songs shouldn't be covered when done so by someone as talented as Neil Finn. that being said, there is a cover of Crowded House's song "Don't Dream It's Over" by a female artist, and imnsho that song should never have been covered by a female. actually, i guess i feel the same way about covers of CH songs as you do about covers of Beatles songs... they just don't work. :-)

Neil Finn doing a pretty nice cover of The Beatles' "Nowhere Man" in 1998. I initially thought this was Milli Vanilli singing backup, but it turns out that was a wrong attribution on the Youtube post. Speaking of Milli Vanilli, though, it's sad how the whole thing ended for them, considering that these days almost all superstar (pop/country) acts use all kinds of fakery onstage, including lip-syncing. And as far back as 1962 the Crystals epochal "He's A Rebel" was actually recorded by other singers.

love how Neil is "directing" the guy playing the electric guitar even while singing. i've noticed he does that both on his live Farewell dvd, and when i saw him live in August. just means that he's making everything as perfect as it can be, and it always is!

wow, this still brings tears to my eyes since i love the Beatles so much, and i've met Neil recently. he once said that the Beatles were one of his influences for becoming a musician, and this just does it for me, tear-wise! LOVE YOU Neil, and love you Beatles!
