Great song as we all had a childhood and this superbly made and sung song makes me recall that. All those daydreams i had as a child and the fantasies that did not stop even in shcool when the class became boring I used to imagine pirtates sailing in tropical seas and getting to treasure islands and was frequently saved by the bell. Those were the days! I used to run from and to school and splashed the rainwater on the streets. Those were grand times!

OK, I didn't have a brother and was lousy in school at an age older than Neil apparently was, but this is so much my life growing up in Yonkers, not so different from Brooklyn, I guess, though he's ten years older than I. Every time I listen it is a moving experience.

This song always reminds me of growing up. I think that Neil could do a musical with his songs. Call it Brooklyn Roads. It could be semi-autobiographical about a guy growing up in New York, wanting to become a song writer and feature songs such as this, Beautiful Noise, I am, I said and other Neil greats could surround the basis of the story. Now I typically don't do musicals, but that is one that I would go and see. He has conquered just about everything else, why not a musical.

Great cut! I saw him at a college concert in Alabama in 1969. This recording has vastly better accoustics. Neil has helped my life be 'filled to the brim..' for four decades.

@monkeyhawk In Seattle he was asking for requests. Someone yelled "Shilo" and he said, "We haven't done that in quite a while." I yelled out "Brooklyn Roads", same 'double take' and he said, "We have done that in quite a while" and then with his four piece band he did it.

I LOVE this recording.. Interesting fact; I'm born and raised here [Portland], have been to this auditorium many times, he did not play Portland again after 1971 until 1996 (I was at that one) because we did not have adequate facilities for him that had acoustics up to par; our NBA stadium sounded horrible. In 1995 we built a new one, and he came back. I don't blame him for being particular about his acoustics. I was born 10 years after this recording; what I wouldn't give to see it!
