We all tend to say strange things without thinking too much so that's nothing special :D

Tbh I've heard the names but sadly haven't listened to anything by them. Currently I'm digging extreme metal, classical and some jazz from time to time, especially fusion.

Sounds interesting, I will listen to it. Are you btw familiar with any of the following names ? King Crimson, Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Yes, Frank Zappa, John Zorn, The Residents... to mention but a few from my list of favorites that have been accumulating for several decades...

lol, Thanks ! Things aren't always what they seem, are they ? Actually it was the bad sound quality of the video...combined with the relentless ''demon'' growling that triggered my initial comment...plus my nasty mood at the time...

From what you've said I'd highly recommend listening to the band Obscura, one of my personal favourites. They mix metal with classical and jazz elements, use a variety of vocal styles: growls, shrieks, cleans, whispers. The guitarists are geniuses, the drummer is fast and tight as hell and the bassist is insane so yeah, really worth a listen.

Yes, I gotta agree that the term 'pop' is pretty diverse. Actually after replying on your first comment here I was expecting a discussion with a dumb person but instead I've been positively surprised. I always enjoy intelligent conversations about music so thank you.

screems, growls and shreeks have been employed very effectively in ''electric'' music for decades, but if the growling percists in everything a band plays, it loosses its effectiveness in my view and taste. Hip-hop ...no, i wouldn't bother with that... Party music is something I never cared about...

I've been listening to many different kinds of music for many years... things that are very diverse and worth listening in my opinion. But there is a lot of music and one must pick and choose. Pop means many things for example. In the sixties everything non-classical was ''pop'' and some was really fine and still worth a lot listening, but some other was disposable, if you know what I mean. Same with today's ''pop'' I guess...

A matter of getting used to it. Hell, speaking of music, now I love things I used to hate in the past and that's basicaly how my taste evolved. Over time you learn to appreciate everything you hear, let it be dubstep, screamo, pop or hip-hop music.

The distorted guitars and the shreds are fine. I don't like the unchanging toneless growling, though.

Actually sir you don't realize that music of Necrophagist or rather their influences date back to when classical music ruled the world. In other words, Necrohpagist is a more extreme form of classical music. If you close your ears to distorted guitars, blast beats and growls it's your choice but you don't know that you're missing out.
