Very good version of Hoagy Carmichael's composition. His voice really does justice to this great song. Hoagy was a musical genius and Nat's voice is great. Makes up for enjoyment in hearing.

Such a voice! Does the composition justice like few - if any - others. Are we not privileged?

Welcome everyone to another edition of "Composer Of The Night" featuring the wonderful home spun melodies of Hoagy Carmichael. Mitchell Parish wrote the lyrics to this standard which has been recorded more than 1500 times by musicians from every spectrum of music making. Hoagy Carmichael was a singer/songwriter before Billy Joel or Bruce Springsteen ever performed their own music for an audience. He also loved the spotlight, and appeared on radio, television, and made many appearances in the movies. I wanted to know if the anecdote concerning Lauren Bacall and Andy Williams was true. Many people still believe that in the movie "To Have and Have not", Andy Williams dubbed Lauren Bacall's singing voice. After some digging, I found this not to be the case. Pure fabrication. Like Cole Porter, Hoagy originally planned to become a lawyer, but thankfully both men chose to be composers. This rendition of "Stardust" is my favorite with Nat's beautiful reading of the lyric and sublime singing. Thankfully, he also includes the verse, which is often times left out. Enjoy your dinner everyone! Thank you for tuning into DBS. Our show will continue after these words from "Hong Kong Blues Cabaret."

Absolute perfection, no unecessary ' dummy ' microphone stuffed in the face, just perfect diction, emotion and personality shining through on one of the finest ' standards ' ever put to music !.

This was my mom's favorite song; easy to understand why, especially when Mr. Cole sings it.

The intro to this song (one of the most beautiful songs ever written!) is especially haunting, both the unusual melody & Nat's unique way of making it so. (Hard to believe but Johnny Mathis, himself a tremendously gifted singer, omitted the intro! Very ill-advised by his "people!")

Memoranda from a distant star. So glad to see that this is still extant. Thanks so much for posting. ~ S ~

I wasn't just his golden voice. He secret was he sang the song from the inside out, and gave you time to get in there with him. That is genius.
