Acoustic always use light. Electric I use medium on my strat.

I was able to get some of the older polywebs through eBay and set them up on my Taylor GS Mini. To me they sound a little less brighter than the nanos but since I'm a fingerstyle player it works for me.

I wouldn't want a guitar that is so finicky that it only sounds great with a custom set of strings. You can only take perfection so far.
