This is the only comparison I can make between the two... Blue and High/Low released close together, both produced by Ric Ocasek. Pink and Proximity, both commercial failures...but cherished by their fans. Let Go and Green are the comeback albums, except Nada Surf's album is excellent, where Green is utter crap. Weight is a Gift and Maladroit are their weakest albums (Raditude doesn't count, as it doesn't exist to me). You hit the nail on the head, Nada Surf is more mature than Weezer.

last time I saw Nada Surf I had a conversation with Matthew about why they dont play Mother's Day live. He told me that he wrote it as a big f you cause the record co was saying Proximity Effect didnt having any "hits". Mother's Day has a radio friendly sound until you actually listen to the lyrics. Songs that condemn violent male culture rarely get radio play. But I still wonder what happened in his life that cause him to write the two songs dealing with rape on PE.

A lot of people compared Nada Surf to Weezer when they first came out, but songs like this show how Nada Surf is deeper and much darker than Weezer. Nada Surf is like Weezer's older brother who suffers from chronic PTSD.

he didnt mess up the lyrics... i think he hurt his throat messing up with the high notes, thats why he avoided some lines... still, how awesome it is that he can hold it up in a situation like this!!! go nada surf

Did anyone else notice that he messed up words at about 2:30? But that just makes this performance more special. I know many people who doesn't like Nada Surf songs like Robot and Mother's Day just because they are about rape. But I just adore Matthew Caws about how true songs he can create. Amazing artists! Nada Surf will always be my favourite musicians.
