I think this song is about suicide. Not just the act, but the motives lurking behind it as well. Being fed up with whatever life brought upon them, they "don't wanna feel a thing" anymore. They simply want to drift away, let it go. Although there is implied that there is a "higher being" that actually wants to encourage you to "feel a thing". Near the end the song gets a tad aggressive, you can hear screams in the background. This might imply that they try to commit suicide but as it turns out, the act is more messy and painfull than they thought. Finally you hear that violin-ish kinda thing. To me this means that they did kill themselves and after all that mess, the only thing left behind are their lifeless bodies.After all, they didn't want to feel a thing.

Thanks for posting this. The acoustic chorale version has more energy, but I think that goes for most of their songs. Had the privilege of seeing them 3 times.. twice in NOLA. By far the best live band out right now in my opinion
