With songs, it isn't a misunderstanding though (in my opinion); it's seeing the song through your life experiences and thoughts.

This is such a beautiful song. Melody and lyrics are both perfectly crafted. In fact, the melody is so perfect that there 's a really obvious alto duet to the song, and my sister and I have won several awards performing it as a duet for two voices, with me at piano and her on viola.

Along with tangent94's explanation, it makes sense - the song is about the voice in her head, which is possibly named after the myth - it's something that she can't destroy without destroying herself, because it's part of her.
