somehow I think the other members were supposed to play at some time during the song but they suddenly realised how amazing it sounded just the piano and the voice and they were like: ... let it go. Internally they all agreed.

For some reason it seems like Gerard's voice outgrew Cancer after The Black Parade era ended. It sounded amazing around the time The Black Parade was released, but once the Danger Days era came around, it started to sound really weird live. Idk if it's just me that thinks this, but it's just something I observed.

i actually think this sounds pretty bad. i love "cancer" so much but gerard's just not hitting the notes at all here, some of them sound flat. it's unfortunate that there's too much echo for his voice and that the pianist screwed up in a song where his is the main instrument as well. surprising since all the other songs from this session were executed so beautifully. (i'm also wondering if they changed genres because gerard couldn't sing like before or maybe "cancer" was just done to sound good on record, not live.)
