What Muse has contributed to rock, is what Peter Jackson contributed to Tolkien's universe, they put out three awesome pieces of art in the 2000s, but their most recent 3 are painfully average.

I'm still struggling to understand why everyone hates the resistance and 2nd law so much. There are 1 or 2 pop orientated songs on each of them and the rest are more progressive than anything theyve ever done, like i seriously dont get it, I love both of them just as much as OOS and absolution

Dead Inside - 8/10Drill Sargent/Psycho - 6.5/10Mercy - 7/10Reapers 9/10 The Handler 8.5/10JFK/Defector - 7.5/10 Revolt - 4.5/10Aftermath 5.5/10 The Globalist 6.5/10 Drones 7.5/10 Overall 7/10 It's quite annoying to give Drones a 7/10 because there are some proper bangers on it but that Revolt/Aftermath meh zone really fucks it up. Also half of The Globalist should have been left on the cutting room floor. Good album none the less.

Respect the opinion, but I really like this record much much more than The 2nd Law. It's not the best Muse has made but it is the step in the right direction. Unfortunately, they can't produce anything else other than grandiose arena rock sounds (except for "Aftermath" & "Drones"), and also EVERY track is about Drones. However, still their best record they've produced since The Resistance & we might have to accept the fact that they peaked at Black Holes & Revelations. Still give it a 9 out of 10 because I'm a huge fan of Muse and the instrumentals was what I wanted to hear!

The 2nd Law was no masterpiece, but I don't understand how Drones is any better. The songwriting is so phoned in on these tracks. Look at Revolt for fucks sake. The 2nd Law atleast tried to be boundary pushing, and was also somewhat self aware. Muse takes themselves way too seriously on Drones. Never been more dumbed down. This whole album is just a big DO YOU GET IT?!

Not a fan of the concept of the album, way over exaggerated. Some of the songs are unbelievably cheesy and bland also, I've been a muse fan for many years now. It's sad to hear this album. The handler and reapers and dead inside make the album listenable though. Revolt, psycho, mercy are gag worthy 5/6 out of 10

Anthony, wondering if you'd be able to review the new Citizen "Everyone Is Going to Heaven." I think you'll find that it does not drone (in shoegaze). Will Yip did a great job with this album.

The 2nd Law is nice. Maybe Drones is nice too. I don’t know… The idea of listening to Drones again feels like a chore.

Can we expect a review of Mark Tremonti's latest record, Anthony?I'd like to see where it rates from a non-fanboy standpoint.
