You lot complaining about today's country music are so backward it's unbelievable and unbearable! Talk about resistant to change!! These modern guys have made country music more popular and what it is today! It is now popular worldwide and for the ones that say that modern country music doesn't tell a story... What absolute bulls**t! I'm glad I don't know any of you lot!!

Its so funny that Dierks Bentley sings this song! His music is some of the worst poprock fake country out there.

When I heard this, it almost brought me to tears. All George could really tell a story, I should know. I have over 100 songs of his on my iPhone, all I have to say is "God bless the possum".

A. Larry Cordle wrote this and (b) if possum didn't approve of Dierks, don't you think he would have said so?

I am glad that George Jones allowed Dierks Bentley to sing this song with him, as he is country music; just like Alan Jackson, George Straight, and all the other classic country singers. As for Blake Shelton saying that we don't want to listen to the country music that are grandparents grow up with; I have to disagree, as I love that old country music and I know that others do too.

Great version! Yes, those rock and roll guitars are too noisy on today's country music. For example, there was a song a while back called Don't You Wanna Stay. Was it by Jason Aldean & Kelly Clarkson? The song itself is OK, but the guitar sound is so noisy that I can't keep on listening!

All of you are so right as to how traditional country music has gotten butchered beyond recognition. That is why we are so fortunate to have YouTube which is just about the only place you can find this music. George Jones was more or less ignored in the last twelve years or so of his life my mainstream so-called country radio as they considered him to be "too country" which has to be a bit like telling a baseball player he's too good a hitter.

The comments by Wayne are very well said, but Blake Shelton was recently quoted as saying that today's folks don't want to listen to the music their grandmas and grandpas listened to. So go figure. But crossover county is nothing new. Think Patsy Cline, for example. And country-rock may have begun with the Everly Brothers.

The lyrics of traditional/original country music told a story. The lyrics of Murder on Music Row tell a true story. Most of the shit called "country music"for the past couple of decades begs the question ... Which country? It sure as hell isn't American country music.

Dierks Bentley is a hell of a lot better than the CRAP on the radio
