One minute in, it's like a Beatles twist on Cyndi Lauper "We have no past we won't reach back - keep with me forward all through the night" which was written by Jules Shear. A relative of Billy Shears?

This song definitely has a Sergeant Pepper sound to it. A LOT of bands give a nod of gratitude to the Beatles and rightly so. Although I've never understood why this is a Christmas tune! It sounds good all year round and lyrically has no connection to the festive season.

Did Jeff Lynne ever work with this band? They are SO similar to ELO, but better. This is one of my all time favourite songs! ❤️❤️❤️

I think Jules Shear might object to the melody at 0.59

Heard this for the first time in the jungle in Guatemala (1988), while tuning in to British Forces Radio (BFPS Central America)...they played it every day! Awesome!

Was this always a Christmas song? I seem to remember it getting a lot of radio airplay in the fall of 1988, but don't recall it being associated with Christmas.

At Christmas, we don't forget Freiheit. No no no.

Weird how similar the chorus sounds to Hope for the Future by Paul McCartney ("the hopes we had were much too high: lol)
