"Kyrie" was a #1 hit song by the 1980s pop/rock band Mr. Mister, from their 1985 album Welcome to the Real World. (Kyrie Eleison, is Greek translation for "Lord have mercy"). Released in late 1985, it hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in March 1986, where it was #1 for two weeks. Mr. Mister is an American pop rock band most popular in the 1980s. The band's name came from an inside joke about a Weather Report album called Mr. Gone where they referred to each other as "Mister This" or "Mister That", and eventually selected "Mr. Mister." Mr. Mister may be considered as representative of the melodic sound of 1980s pop rock. The band consisted of Richard Page on vocals and bass guitar, Steve George on keyboards, Pat Mastelotto on acoustic and electronic drums and Steve Farris on guitars.

I was only 5 years of age when this song came out, and I'm just discovering & listening to this song in it's entirety in 2015. It was some time last year in early 2014 listening to part of this song on the radio in a Japanese eat in & take out place where I work at, and it was the chorus to this song that caught my attention(a rather triumphant uplifting feeling to it) and now that I finally discovered the band that sings this song as well as the name of the song, I can enjoy this song practically anytime especially learning what the name of this song means. Great song.

I was actually searching through praise/worship music in another program and came across a song with the same title so I looked this one up with the lyrics because, I too, had no idea what this song meant. I always loved this song growing up, but in the last 10 years or so - I have learned to pay more attention to the lyrics and what they mean. Now I know why I liked it so much! lol Lord Have Mercy!!!
