Went to Oberlin when Moses was there- He and I had the same piano teacher, the incomparable Joseph Schwartz. There was always a natural glow around Moses as a young man. He had and infectious smile and was a friend to all. (not to mention an amazing pianist). He was taken too soon.

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. 1 Corinthians 15:36 that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die

My choir sang this Sophomore year, back when I could totally hit the high notes. I think our choir was really good. We really felt it, and we had more men than we do at present time. God this song is just so good and it introduced me to African spirituals and Moses Hogan, whom I consider to be the epitome of the genre. Even today this song gets me pumped.
