A radically different version compared to what later appeared on 'Vauxhall and I'

Prefer album version, but quite good. Perhaps the guitar would suit his vocals now better than then?

The song as a whole also has a feel of "You Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby"

Is that a real cover?

always thought "disappointed" was a rip off attempt at How Soon is Now.

2.30 is hilarious, such a brilliant reference to this charming man. Such a great version of this song. <3 moz

Just thought I would put it out there that that cover is From the Sixties gangster film "Get Carter". That,s the star Michael Cane in I would say the far west of Newcastle Upon Tyne. In the background is the old Stella Power station. (I used to deliver the veg there once a week) Great track, film and times!!

Why don't you find out for yourself?

@thecarnagevisors2006 I agree. It is blatant. Alain Whyte is known for borrowing from the Smiths back catalogue, with Hold On To Your Friends being the outro riff for Pretty Girls Make Graves. Cheeky but still brilliant. Irish Blood English Heart is unhinged genius.

@UnderTheAffluence Good point! Quite possibly a reference to that song and why the final version of this track was altered for release. It does have a very Smiths-like riff and middle eight.

2:30 sound uncomfortably similar to the end of This Charming Man.
