Excellent b-side to "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys". And yes, Morrissey really did spell it "Michaels," not "Michael's".

"Michaels Bones"

Words by Morrissey, Music by Stephen Street

Michael's bones

Lay where he fell

Face down

On a sports ground

He was just somebody's

Luckless son

But now look what he's done

Oh, look what he's done

Your gentle hands are frozen

And your unkissed lips are blue

Your thinning clothes are hopeless

And no one was mad about you

Michael's bones

Were very young

But they were never to know

Impetuous fun

Mr. Policeman I don't know

Where you get such notions from!

His gentle hands are frozen

And his unkissed lips are blue

But his eyes still cry

And now you've turned the last bend

And see are we all judged the same at the end

Tell me, tell me

OH YOU LUCKY THING

You are Too Brave

And I'm ashamed of myself

AS USUAL

I'm pretty sure this song is about suicide. As in a kid who committed suicide at a young age , which makes the last verse very disturbing and saddening. Just my interpretation.

Goodbye Terry, Shaun, Kay, Steve, Andy, and those I can't remember anymore. Evo-Stick is one way of shedding your mortal coil, now it's harmless. But if you're going to go, you'll find a way.

Sigh. Please read this "Morrissey's first experience with suicide was when he was 15. Michael Kelly, a schoolfriend at the time, took his own life after football lessons. Kelly is remembered in the song Michael's Bones, penned by Morrissey"

I'm not switching accounts xD I'm a seperate person to whoever else agrees with me. It's about Michael Ryan, you have no understanding of Morrissey, his music, or his being. You're blocked

It is about Michael Ryan, but if you disagree, tell me your thoughts

I didn't flag it. I'm not ignorant like Cheekalob is, and I'd be interested to hear more about your theory. I have actually pressed "show" several times in an attempt to un-spam it.

lol did you really flag my comment as spam hoping nobody would then see it

Unless Morrissey told you personally it isn't about Michael Ryan, why should I listen to anything you say? It is just an opinion and one, evidently, you don't share. Don't be so ignorant.

He died in a school classroom, but the song doesn't have to be 100% accurate. Many of the other lines seem to allude to the incident, and when Morrissey was asked about the song he was very cagey about revealing it's true meaning.

Oh I understand now! Thank you enlightening me with your detailed explanation.

It wouldn't be the first time Morrissey has referenced a serial killer in his song. Look at 'Suffer Little Children'. Are you going to tell me that's not about the Moors Murders? What do you suppose it is about?
