From 1997 album "Sax Pax For A Sax"

New Amsterdam was her name

Before she was New York

New Amsterdam is a dame

The heart and Soul of Big Apple city

No matter what name she goes under

I dig her deeply and no wonder

For she's been lovely to me

And I'm the better for having met her

New Amsterdam was her name

Before she was New York

New Amsterdam is a dame

The heart and Soul of Big Apple city

No matter what name she goes under

I dig her deeply and no wonder

For she's been lovely to me

And I'm the better for having met her

This is perhaps the best "outsider music" I've heard to date. Nice discovery! Although there's a lot of decent "Indie" music, much of it is mediocre. Moondog seems to have had a great combination of two points - deep spirituality and a formal musical education. Is this combination so rare?

*I haven't shared any Moondog lately...*So here's your dose. Love this - how melancholy it is, the rhythm, the feel...

Such raw beauty in this music, every time I hear it, it makes me shiver , and know it will linger in my mind for a long time after.

Why'd they change it? I can't say ... people just liked it better that way.
