What's this song about? The first half makes me think it's about being optimistic, but then there's someone who has to go away, so I'm confused. I guess it's about trying to take good decisions? I'd like to listen to your versions!

Will these cats ever know the heartbreak of standing in an Oregon rain waiting for a bus that never arrives?

Much love to all fans of M.O.F. out there and each member's own act, but this is totally Conor singing lead on the album. M Ward rocks just as much though! The main confusion with this band is that they kept taking turns doing the lead live and in videos. JJ needs to finish the new MMJ album and get M.O.F. back together soon!

I can't stop listening to this song. I just discovered your music today.... brilliant. I love it.

Love how they slipped "when the knot comes loose" into this tune (a MMJ song). I only wish this band would reunite.

Even though I saw the cover of this album, I just doubted why the guy on the right upper corner looks so similar to Jim James. I found out these guys are those super musical geniuses we've known finally. How slow I am! -.-" I'm just so thrilled to hear these four guys get together under one name. Gorgeous!

Oh god I posted that comment 2 years ago. I forgot all about This type of music. I started making my own songs now maybe ill upload a few. ANYWAYS I posted that back when I was REAAALLY really into batman and the dark knight. And the joker had a line where he said he was "Not a monster, just ahead of the curve" and this song reminded me of that so I though it would be funny to use the jokers catchphrase "why so serious?". As you can tell I was really stupid back then.

LOL wasn't aware I was being bitchy. Didn't mean to sound that way. I just think he's saying he's troubled and apathetic in that line. And sometimes I think he says things just to provoke thoughts and reactions. Other times, I think he's just fucking around with wordplay and technique. Look at Get-Well-Cards. That song seems like it's just an alliteration exercise for him.

And I know it's Conor's thing. I've been listening for nearly a decade

Kind of Conor's thing.... don't give me that bitchiness.

The whole song is about things being fucked up, confused, and backwards. That line is basically the entire song in a nutshell.

A Conor Oberst song? Serious? WHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

It's wordplay, mostly. It's kind of Conor's thing. And the intrinsic nature of wordplay is afterthought.

Mine too. Except I didn't misquote it. Heh. I'm not carefree. No. I'm free to care. I just never do. Details... ;)
