i think the optimism of monster magnet is lost on alot of people. like maybe most people expect and even demand that raw rock and roll has to be either angry,sad or both. im guilty of this myself but even i realize that not everything is bad all the time. i cant find one single sentiment in this song that is negative or hostile. negasonic teenage warhead takes that a step further and asks the question why are some people perpetually miserable? isnt anything ever good enough? that being said i think the 2 songs from mm that i like the most are "black balloon" and "ghost story",the themes of those songs are heartbreaking to me even though with one of them (black balloon") i dont really know what he singing about but i always think of it as a song about disapointment. "ghost story" seems pretty straitforward in the sense of "i love you and you dont love me anymore and i want you back but i know i can never have you back". ok that was weird,i presented a point of view and then completely negated my own point. its a real civil war in my brain most of the time. sorry for wasting everyones time. im sure ill probably respond to this post with a third alternative,no pun intended. nobody needs to reply ive already acomplished the beginning and middle of a youtube comment war
