We tramped the open moorland in the rainy April weather

And came upon the little inn that we had found together

The landlord gave us toast and tea and stopped to share a joke

And I remember firelight

I remember firelight

I remember firelight

And you remember smoke

We ran about the meadow grass with all the harebells bending

And shaking in the summer wind a summer never-ending

We wandered to the little stream among the river flats

And I remember willow trees

I remember willow trees

I remember willow trees

And you remember gnats

We strolled the Spanish marketplace at 90 in the shade

With all the fruit and vegetables so temptingly arrayed

And we can share a memory as every lover must

And I remember oranges

I remember oranges

I remember oranges

And you remember dust

The autumn leaves are tumbling down and winter's almost here

But through the spring and summertime we laughed away the year

And now we can be grateful for the gift of memory

For I remember having fun

Two happy hearts that beat as one

When I had thought that we were "we"

But we were "you and me".

Lovely song, piano playing, singing and what words! Beautiful lady, too. Too bad she couldn't help Nick, but the poor girl tried her best.

wonderful lyrics to describe a relationship probably all of us have had in our lives at some point. One is loving life and in love and the other is just well going through the motions. Last 2 lines are the best imo...cheers molly

Two amazing musicians who never got the recognition while they were alive, but we are all blessed with they're creations.

I'm from London myself but there is something about both Nick and Molly's music that to me is so evocative of the English countryside. Almost like I can't imagine one without the other. Obviously the lyrics here make the link more latent in this song. But in all their songs I find myself dreaming of childhood in the English countryside, even though I've spent my whole life in the city. Reminds me of that beautiful line in the Motorcycle Diaries: "How is it possible to feel nostalgia for a time I never knew?"

How elegant and perfectly succinct is this? Great song. It's impossible not to have your own memories surface when you hear these words and the nostalgic, bittersweet tone,

She really has a stunning talent. The similarities with her son are plain to see. However, having listened to the songs you have uploaded, I see one aspect to her songs which sets her apart from her son's work - her positivity. Where there is darkness it is immediately balanced with light. This is a woman who is aware of the realities - beauty and brutality - of life and has developed a strategy to survive them and enjoy what life has to offer. I think those characteristics may not have had time to develop in her son. I read in an article where her daughter was being interviewed that Molly's response to her son's death was that they must stay at Far Leys "...and make it a happy house again." A testament to her strength. A really great collection of songs.
