The BBC Music is proud to present you today a remix of Modestep's popular song "Sunlight" by Calvertron and Helicopter Showdown! Expect more filth in this one. While this piece of work keeps the chilled vibe of the original song, the bit sounds and the glitchy synths lay on a deep bassline to add to the melody that I would classify as a banger.

Modestep's song "Sunlight" has received quite a lot of edifying critics and for cause. Behind this name hide brothers Tony and Josh Fiend who have individually been DJing since 2001, only forming the band in 2010 with Josh's roommate Matthew Curtis and more recently guitarist Nick Tsang. Basically they're two guitarists, one drummer and one vocalist alongside the inevitable dub work. This combination of hard rock and electro definitely helped in their acclamation from the public.

Calvertron, for his part, started learning to produce with Cubase on an old Atari ST computer in the late 90′s. There were no softsynths back then, you had to buy thousands of pounds/dollars worth of keyboards, outboard fx units, samplers a mixing desk etc. to be able to make a track. It took him a long time to get all the gear together. These days all you need is PC and some monitors speakers and your away, which is great and makes it much easier for less privileged peeps to have their talent heard! He also used to play guitar in a thrash metal band until the Prodigy Steered his interest towards synthesizers and sampling. Calvertron then got into drum n bass in a big way, he used to buy records from labels like Trouble on Vinyl, Renegade Hardware, Metalheadz, V Recordings and Ram etc. These days some of Calvertron favourite producers and a big influence on his production would be Noisia, Datsik, Downlink, Doctor P, High Rankin, Figure to name a few.

Helicopter Showdown is heavy and melodic Dubstep from San Francisco, California. Rinsed heavily by Rusko, Reid Speed, Sluggo, Calvertron, PantyRaid and more, their Debut EP "The Wrestler" on Ultragore records made home to Beatport's Dubstep Top 100 Chart with the title single in the Top 10 for 3 weeks.

The next releases "Hostages" also on Ultragore records (collab with SLUGGO) and their freely available "Dramatron", "Beat Down" (Squitty Bubbler), along with the classic "Whistle Tips" (Dubsaw) (collab with Point.blank) have each received similar fanfare and critical acclaim, and have helped them earn the incredible support of the powerful Dubstep blogosphere.
