none of my boring words, just lyrics.

Eating snow flakes with plastic forks

And a paper plate of course, you think of everything.

Short love with a long divorce,

And a couple of kids of course.

They don't mean anything

Live in trailers with no class

goddamn I hope I can pass high school means nothing.

Taking heartache with hard work,

Goddamn I am such a jerk, I can't do anything.

And I shout that you're all fakes.

And you should have seen the look on your face.

And I guess that's what it takes.

When comparing your bellyaches,

And it's been a long time.

Which agrees with this watch of mine,

And I guess that I miss you, and I'm sorry

if I dissed you.

All these fakes with bellyaches who think this song is about high-school make me a little bit fed-up. This song is not about how you think high-school is bullshit because it makes you study and work and do boring stuff when you'd rather be spending your parents money. This song is literally about trailer trash. About the people who can't even afford to go to school, the people who have to live in trailers, huts and even tents on the outskirts of civilization. The people who are looked down upon and seen as no less than stray dogs by all other social classes because their parents were bastards or they just got dealt an unlucky hand in life. In particular this song is about a trailer trash family who are desperately poor and the mother has left the father, who has become so broken that he can't even sum up the energy or emotion to even give a damn about his children anymore. All he can do is count the seconds that she's been gone. Unfortunately, situations similar to this are happening all the time even today. This song is not about high-school and the insignificant problems that you claim "ruin" your pretty, little lives. This is a song about heartbreak, poverty and classicism. And the vicious cycle it creates.

Yeah my only problem with it is that I need MOAR!!!! I to wished it was longer but this was pretty nice. I just need a documentary on the M&A and Sad Sappy Sucker(my two personal favorite MM albums)and I"ll be set.

I just wished that they could have talked about all the songs on the record :p btw, how amazingly awesome would it be if they did an hour long documentary on ALL the albums including blue cadet 3 and all that. they probably never will but I would so watch them!

Its really great. You don't get to hear Modest Mouse talk about their songs that much. So a 45 minute documentary about Lonesome Crowded West is unlimited awesome.

Guercinator

it ain't new, it's been on youtube for a few years now. But yes, I saw it the first time around Halloween of 2010, and strangely enough I was watching it earlier today.

He sings the song differently in the live version. When they recorded that song in the studio, they actually put the microphone in the bathroom and had him scream "Fakes!" from the other room, giving it that sound of distance.

Guercinator, none of the lonesome crowded west is available on iPod. I don't know why. I love this album. Can you fix it?

@BebopMagnum7 And Thats just one line of the song. The whole song seems like it's written about a horrible time in his life. Or just a rough part of it. High school is just a small part of his worries.

@BebopMagnum7 I really didnt. I understand his frustration with it. Like I hope I can pass high school, while also thinking it means nothing.. Or even later on in life realized that high school means nothing. Or realizing how high school is filled with a bunch of bull shit. Dont think I missed the point. I look deeper into music than most. It is my job to do so I dont even remember writing that on here. lol
