De los casi 200 temas que escribió Richard Melville Hall, alias Moby, solo escogió 18 para su album "18" del 2002. El prolífico compositor de música electrónica, cuyo nombre artístico proviene de su conocido bisabuelo Herman Melville (autor de la célebre novela Moby Dick), lanzaría "Extreme Ways" como segundo single de dicho álbum y la canción se incluye como tema de los créditos finales de la trilogía de películas de Jason Bourne (protagonizada por Matt Damon): "El Caso Bourne", "El Mito de Bourne" y "El Ultimátum de Bourne".
