How do I get a heavy tone like that that still is clear enough to hear all the notes of the chords?

So even Misha himself initially had a tough time grabbing some Periphery chords. Now I feel a little better about my life.

can somebody tell me how do i get that tone? besides the insane guitar and pickups misha is using, which is the gear that gets this distorted tight sound with a lot of sustain?

Clearly, it works. But it is bad technique. Definitely not a good habit to form, I had to break it and it was tough, but well worth it. I don't know how you would tape a note during a sweep by using your index finger though? Limitations like that just don't make sense to me.

ive seen enough guitarists switch from tapping with their index back to picking like its no big deal that it doesn't bother me anymore.

Because he could simply use his middle finger like many guitarist do. It's much more efficient and does not require you to alter the way you hold your pick, throw it into the crowd, or put it in your mouth. I'm sure even Misha would admit to it being bad technique, he admits to how he holds his picks as being bad technique often enough haha

Adding 9th's, 7'ths, 6's to sus2's always sound really sick.

For future reference, lighter picks actually sound better. Heavy picks straight up easier to use for single note playing though. There's nothing wrong with using either
