The video is a tribute to Meshes of the Afternoon, I think. It's a surreal short film from the '40s. The most obvious reference is the hooded figure with a mirror for a face (also found in Janelle Monae's "Tightrope" video). Other shared imagery includes the key, the knife, the phone, the record player, and the walking feet. Meshes can be watched here on youtube.
