Tbh, while this song sounds fantastical and whimsy, I have a dark mind, so this is my interpretation: a physically abused boy and his abuser conflicting, aka having "friction." He seems to have a black eye, and, to me, it looks like he's wiping away blood from his mouth. He looks angry, almost, but a touch sad. He escapes his abuse through imagination, which is the horses coming from his head. Those horses could either be escape or his fighting the abusers. The nipping noises in the beginning symbolize the abuse chipping away at his patience. The song dips and turns and twists, showing their friction, but who wins in the end is your interpretation.
